On September 24, 2023, the Salama Foundation conducted a significant food distribution initiative, reaching out to a total of 104 orphans at the "DAAWAT NUR" orphanage in KAGWEMA, GIHANGA Zone, and an additional 60 orphans in the BUYENZI Zone at 8th Avenue No. 44.
This support comprised a carefully curated selection, including 100kg of rice, 140kg of beans, 100kg of corn flour, 4 cartons of juice, 2 jerry cans of oil, washing soaps, laundry soaps, 2 bags of OMO detergent, 6 cartons of toothbrushes, and 2 cartons of Colgate toothpaste. It's noteworthy that this event follows the distribution of school supplies carried out by the Salama Foundation the previous month, demonstrating the foundation's ongoing commitment to supporting these orphaned children in the Municipality of Bujumbura.
The initial food distribution took place in KAGWEMA, Commune, and GIHANGA Zone, where the children had gathered along with members of solidarity groups who aided in the identification of these vulnerable individuals. Among these children are orphans who have lost both parents or those whose families have sadly abandoned them.
The second distribution occurred directly at the orphanage located in BUYENZI Zone, specifically at 8th Avenue No. 44.
It is important to highlight that this distribution was carried out in the presence of the Legal Representative of the Salama Foundation and the caretaker responsible for these orphans. This presence underscores the foundation's commitment to transparency and direct involvement in ensuring that the aid reaches those in need. The Salama Foundation's holistic approach, encompassing both educational support and vital sustenance, reflects a sincere dedication to enhancing the lives of these orphaned children in the community.
